Charitable Running

I am beginning a new adventure! I recently discovered that I am capable of running a 5K. I ran my first one last Tuesday, and it felt great. Although I'm pretty certain there were less than 10 people who finished behind me, I was very excited about running the whole thing anyway.

Now I have signed up for my second one already, to run Wednesday night, and I'm looking at an application for a third race coming up as well. The question of funding this new-found hobby of mine has been brought to my attention as all of these races have a cover charge, and a few of these a month is going to add up. These cover charges serve as donations toward many wonderful charitable organizations. I've discovered that many people would like to donate to such causes if given the opportunity, but may not like to, or be physically able to run in the races. My goal is to bring these organizations to your attention, and accept donations, not only toward my run, but toward all of these wonderful charities hoping to raise funds and awareness for great causes. And the beauty of it is that you don't have to run! (Of course you're welcome to join me). :)

I have set up a PayPal account to accept donations. ALL proceeds will benefit the charities of which I will be keeping you updated through my blog. As each race approaches, I will blog about the race, its location, and the cause/causes it supports. After each run I will also keep my loyal fans and donors updated on how it went, my times, and how much money we raised for the charity, etc. It is a work in progress. As you can see, I am unable to get the donations "widget" on the sidebar here working just yet. I will let you know when that is resolved. And for now, I can attach a button to this blog for you to donate.

The first race up is the 3rd Annual Celebrity 5K Run. It is this Wednesday, June 29. Proceeds benefit The Buffalo Broadcasters Association and The Homeless Veterans of Western NY. You might be wondering what exactly that is supporting, as was I. I looked it up, and donated funds help to preserve the broadcasting history and archives of Buffalo, NY. I believe that is important, but more importantly on my heart and mind are the homeless veterans. Both of my grandfathers were/are veterans having bravely fought for this country. I can't imagine going through all of that for the sake of your country, and then not even having a roof over your head to show for it. Please consider supporting me, as I support this cause! Thank you!

And please let me know if the button below also doesn't work. I'm very new to this. :)
